Owner: Kevin Cody
Kevin Cody started on his path to fitness from the age of 5, competing in a variety of sports. Wrestling, basketball, and football eventually led to cross country and track & field. As a senior in high school he received the highest award for best overall athlete which paved the way to both academic and athletic scholarships at the University of Maryland. At U. of MD he competed in cross country and track & field, with personal best times of 25:40 for 5 miles and 1:52.3 for 800 meters. His highest career finish was 4th place in the 800m at the ACC indoor championships.
Plagued by injuries throughout his collegiate career, Kevin began to focus more on proper technique rather than simply training harder. In 1998 he graduated with Honors in Biology, and worked for over a year as a physical therapist assistant in preparation for more school. However, his experiences with the medical field and health insurance inadequacies led him to pursue a career instead with general fitness.
For several years, Kevin worked his way up the management chain becoming a general manager for both The Fitness Company and Sport and Health. Throughout this time he continued to work with a wide variety of personal training clients as well. His clients ranged from professional athletes in several sports to joint replacement recipients. He became famous (or infamous?) for working with the clients who had the most difficult goals and obstacles. The greater the challenge presented, the greater his interest became in overcoming it.
In 2006, Kevin started his own fitness consulting company PHASE Fitness. This allowed him to practice his unique brand of personal training which reflected the attitudes and ideas accumulated over a lifetime of studying the human body. While rooted in fundamental principles, his unique approach continues to evolve with each new client and challenge.
